The letters describe which face to turn, assuming you are looking directly at that face:
• Letter alone (e.g. R): 90° Clockwise
• Prime suffix (e.g. R'): 90° Counter-Clockwise
• Double suffix (e.g. R2): 180° Turn (flicked as two 90° turns)
This is the standard beginner method to solve the puzzle in sequential steps:
Locate the white center piece. Position all 4 white edge pieces around it so they align with both the white top center and their respective side center colors.
Insert the 4 corner pieces matching White, plus the colors of the two adjacent side centers, to complete the entire white face and first layer.
Turn the cube upside down (White on bottom, Yellow center on top). Find edges on the top layer without Yellow, and insert them into the middle layer using:
Create a cross shape on the top yellow face using the following algorithm repeatedly depending on the pattern (Dot, L-shape, or Line):
Orient all yellow corner stickers to face up, completing the entire yellow top face, using the Sune algorithm:
Look for headlights (two matching corners on one side) and align them. Swap the remaining corners using:
Cycle the remaining yellow edges to their solved slots to finish the cube using:
